Our First Casualty

Yesterday was a sad day (more sad for some than others).  We found Goldilocks in the bowl not moving. 

I was really interested to see how Jacey and Max would react.  Jacey had previously joked that she was tired of them and that she wanted them to die.  However, when one did, she was more sad than she thought.  Maybe because she had named it.  Max was affected more.  Max wanted to hold Goldilocks and pet it.  Then we flushed it down the toilet.  That was hard for Max.  He couldn't do it. He had to have some help.  He told us that he wants to keep the next one that dies.  Decomposing fish with accompanying smells,  that is definitely not something that I want. We will have to have a discussion when the time comes.

Not a good way to start the week.  The dad gone, and a fish dying.
