Nutcracker Live

Our first Nutcracker performance is tonight, and I really seriously hope all goes well.  We have had two incredibly rough dress rehearsals.  Oh, Jacey and Max did great, but between dancers not getting on stage, Clara not getting changed quick enough, lights not working properly, Mother Buffoon's slip falling off (my fault), lost scarfs, wardrobe malfunctions (incredibly imbarassing when you are 15 and dancing with the two Arabian male dancers who are getting ready to go on missions) and girls (okay just one) passing out while dancing.   Oh, the drama of the performing world.  I had a melt down day yesterday, and made Max take a nap with me so I would stop getting mad at him for playing soccer.

THANK GOODNESS that Gregg is getting home tonight from Alpharetta.

And. . . tickets!  (I lost sleep over this one.)  ARGGH.  I am really grateful for all those that bought tickets from us this year.  We sold enough tickets to get good seats on the days that we wanted, but it wasn't even close to the high ticket sales, and this is why.

Each family is required to sell 15 tickets in which they get two preferred tickets.  The orders with the most ticket sales are filled first.  So that leaves those that only sell the required 15 the back of the auditorium, or nights they didn't choose.  So people have figured out that if they buy their tickets from those that sell a lot of tickets they get better seats.  Then they buy the remaining tickets themselves and may or may not use them.  That forces some families to not get the tickets they want or need.  The performances are sold out, yet there are empty seats.  One lady I was talking to bought the required 15 tickets herself because she felt that she had no one to sell to.  They only gave her 2 preferred tickets so the others were on different nights or in a different part of the auditorium.  She works backstage with me 3 of the 4 nights. Which means that she can't enjoy watching her daughter perform with her husband and family because of the ages of her children.

THIS IS WRONG on multiple levels, and I am trying to figure out what to do about it.

HERE WE GO, and yes we are still enjoying the journey.

It always freaks me out a little to see my son wearing make-up.

  2. Sorry we didn't make it to the Nutcracker this year. The timing just didn't work out. Hopefully we will be able to go if the kids are in it next year.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
