Jacey's Glasses
Jacey has been telling me for awhile that she can not see very well out of her left eye. I thought she just wanted glasses to be like her friends. She always seemed to be able to pass the eye tests at school. However, she didn't pass the last one. We took her to the eye doctor last week. It seems that she has Amblyopia, or Lazy Eye. The doctors say that she has probably always had it. So now she is sporting some new eyegear. Picking out glasses was not easy. Apparently if you have Amblyopia with far-sightedness, you get pretty thick lenses. Jacey couldn't have the cute half rimmed glasses, or a metal frame either. She had to have plastic, full rimmed glasses. Still cute though, don't you think? On the way home today from getting her new glasses, she turned to me and said, "Now I have glasses and braces. How lovely."Jacey, you are still lovely. Glasses can not deminish your beauty.
The advice they actually gave us was to have Jacey wear one contact in her left eye to see if it will help. She needed back up glasses for when she doesn't have her contact in. Last Wednesday, we went in to have her contact fitting, and she was able to get the contact in on the first try. This morning it took her a little longer, but she'll get used to it. She likes the contact better than the glasses, and is getting used to wearing it. If this plan of action doesn't work, next she'll be sporting a patch. Which is exactly what a soon to be new junior high student wants for fashion. Don't you think?
I think the glasses/contacts are going to work though. So don't worry Jacey.
